The 18th International Conference on Electrorheological Fluids and Magnetorheological Suspensions (ERMR2023) was successfully concluded in Chongqing

On June 12, 2023, the 18th International Conference on Electrorheological Fluids and Magnetorheological Suspensions (ERMR2023), hosted by Chongqing University, co-organized by the University of Science and Technology of China and Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, co-organized by the School of Optoelectronic Engineering of Chongqing University, the Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Technology and Systems, Ministry of Education, and the Rheology Committee of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, was successfully concluded at the Kingworld Hotel Chongqing. 


The conference lasted for four days and received a total of 185 articles, divided into 16 topics, 10 plenary reports, more than 80 oral presentations, and more than 40 poster presentations. Over 200 experts and scholars from nearly 20 countries and regions shared their latest research findings and advancements in the field of electroheological fluids and magnetorheological suspensions, exploring the application prospects of smart materials and structures. Conference papers will be recommended for publication in the Journal of Intelligent Material Systems, Smart Materials and Structures, and Modern Physics Letter B after a rigorous peer-review process. 

 

 

Professor Miao Yu, the executive chairman of the conference and director of the Magnetorheological Research Center of the School of Optoelectronic Engineering at Chongqing University, delivered an enthusiastic closing speech. He expressed his gratitude to the participating experts and scholars for their active participation, and reviewed the important topics and academic achievements of the conference. Professor Miao Yu emphasized that this conference has provided a crucial platform for experts and scholars in the field of electroheological fluids and magnetorheological suspensions to exchange ideas and foster collaborations, thus promoting technological advancements and innovations in the area of electromagnetorheology. 

 

 

During the closing ceremony, the prestigious "Best Oral Presentation Award" was presented to four outstanding students, commending their remarkable contributions to the field of electroheological fluid and magnetorheological research. The recipients of the esteemed "Best Oral Presentation Award" are as follows:
•Yuanpeng Xie from Chongqing University, China.
•Calis-Ismetoglu Gokce from Gaziantep University, Turkey.
•Liping Gong from the University of Wollongong, Australia.
•Valentin Schreiner from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany.


Their exemplary oral presentations captivated the audience and showcased their profound knowledge and dedication to the subject matter. Additionally, the conference honored three exceptional students with the "Best Poster Presentation Award" for their remarkable contributions in this innovative field. The recipients of this prestigious award are as follows:
•Guillermo Camacho from the University of Granada, Spain.
•Wang Li from Chongqing University, China.
•Jinyu Yang from the University of Science and Technology of China, China.

 

 

This conference has established the "Lifetime Achievement Award" to honor scholars who have dedicated themselves to long-term research in the field of electroheological fluid and magnetorheological studies and have made significant contributions. The esteemed recipients of this award are:
•Dr. Kunquan Lu, Research Fellow at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
•Professor Rongjia Tao, from Temple University, USA.
•Professor Masami Nakano, from Tohoku University, Japan.
•Professor Seung-Bok Choi, from the State University of New York (South Korea).

In conclusion, Professor Miao Yu announced that the 19th International Conference on Electroheological Fluids and Magnetorheological Suspensions (ERMR2025) will be held in Montreal, Canada, in the year 2025.
